While rehabilitating thousands of residents of Rajiv Colony, Indira Colony, and Kharak Mangoli in Panchkula city, officials and senior workers of Jannayak Janata Party Panchkula and Haryana Valmiki Mahasabha District Panchkula provided them plots of two marlas each instead of one marla each. A memorandum was submitted to Deputy Commissioner Panchkula, Sushil Sarwan, on Monday demanding the same.
JJP leader OP Sihag informed Deputy Commissioner Panchkula that there were reports that the Haryana government had decided to rehabilitate residents of the aforementioned three colonies, providing eligible individuals with plots of one marla each at other locations. Regarding this matter, JJP leader Sihag, JJP District President Dilbag Nain, Valmiki Mahasabha representative Jasveer Jassi, and District Singh demanded from the Deputy Commissioner that these economically disadvantaged people have large families, and a one marla plot is insufficient for their family members. Therefore, residents of these three colonies should be given two marla plots at affordable rates.
OP Sihag argued that if the government has decided to allocate two marla plots to people in similar colonies in Karnal and Sirsa, then why are the people of Panchkula being discriminated against? Additionally, JJP leaders urged Deputy Commissioner Panchkula to provide essential facilities such as clean drinking water, street lights, toilet blocks, and other necessary amenities in these colonies until the residents are resettled elsewhere, taking into account the interests of these economically disadvantaged people.
Deputy Commissioner Panchkula, Sushil Sarwan, assured JJP leaders and officials of Haryana Valmiki Mahasabha District Panchkula who submitted the memorandum that he would forward their request to the Haryana Government with his full recommendations. Those who submitted the memorandum included mainly Panchkula JJP leader and Municipal Corporation Councilor Sushil Garg, Municipal Corporation Councilor Rajesh Nishad and other concern members were present.
