[Directors of the Gurukul chain of schools, Sanjay Thareja and Dr Rajni Thareja, achieved remarkable success at the 35th Annual Chrysanthemum Show 2023 in Chandigarh. The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) declared the results on the eve of the festival’s inauguration, scheduled to take place from December 8 to 10 at Terraced Garden, Sector 33. In the artistic arrangement (amateurs) category, Dr Rajni Thareja from Sector 20, Panchkula, secured the first position, followed by Dr Manjari Bhargava of Sector 8-B, Chandigarh, in second place, and Virinder Sharma of Sector 8, Panchkula, in third place. Gurukul’s entry also won the second prize in the 10-feet round category.
SC Rajpal of Sector 4, Panchkula, was awarded the “King of the Show,” and Virinder Sharma of Sector 8, Panchkula, received the “Queen of the Show” award. Virinder also won the “Prince of the Show” and “New Cultivar of the Show” awards. The “Princess of the Show” title was bestowed upon Dr Manjari Bhargava of Sector 8 B, Chandigarh. Dr Vivek Lal, the director of PGIMER, claimed the “Best Flower of Show” prize.
Several other awards were presented in different categories, including Vatsala Thareja of Panchkula’s Sector 20 winning the first prize in the incurved chrysanthemum (one plant per pot) category, and SC Rajpal of Panchkula’s Sector 4 securing the first prize in the incurving chrysanthemum (one plant per pot) category. In the decorative chrysanthemum category, Riyan Talwar of Chandigarh’s Sector 8 emerged victorious with the first prize.
