Hundreds of students and teachers in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province protested against terrorist activity following armed men’s opening fire on a school vehicle on Monday, killing the driver and injuring a student.
“We know who is behind the current drama. We know why the security forces are helpless against a few so-called terrorists,” a protester was quoted as saying by Dawn.
According to authorities, the incident happened in front of Knowledge City School in the Guli Bagh neighbourhood. At the time of the assault, there were 15 students in the vehicle. According to report, injured students have been sent to the Khwazakhela Hospital.
In condemning the “terrorist attack,” the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) stated that “Swat’s inhabitants are justified in holding the security forces accountable for failing to uphold the writ of the state.”
“HRCP strongly condemns the terrorist attack on a school bus in Swat, in which the driver was killed and a young girl injured,” it added.
