Additional Chief Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, Shubhra Singh, stated that organ donation is a noble cause that can offer a new lease of life to individuals. Given this, the organ donation campaign will be further expanded across the state with coordination from various departments and public participation. She announced this while chairing an interdepartmental coordination meeting related to the National Organ Transplant Program at the Secretariat on Monday.
It is worth noting that awareness about organ donation has rapidly increased in Rajasthan in recent times. The organ donation campaign, conducted on Organ Donation Day, was appreciated not only at the national level but also by the World Health Organisation. Approximately 1.43 crore people took an oath for organ donation on this day. The establishment of an Organ Transplant Unit has also been initiated in all medical colleges in the state.
Dr Samit Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Shaili Kishnani of the General Administration Department, Anupama Jorawal, Managing Director of RMSCL, and Dr Sudhir Bhandari, Vice-Chancellor of the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, along with senior officials from the concerned departments attended the meeting.
