A crucial meeting was held today on December 6, 2023, at the Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat, attended by Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Jathedar Giani Sultan Singh of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Additional Head Granthi Giani Gurdayal Singh of Takht Sri Patna Sahib, and Granthi Singh Sahib Giani Baljit Singh of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, who is also a Granthi at Sri Darbar Sahib. During this assembly, a serious discussion was held on the feedback sent by the living martyr of the Sikh community, Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, and special orders were issued.
According to these orders, an announcement had been issued by the Prime Minister of the country on the occasion of the 550th Prakash Parv Centenary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, regarding the release of the living martyr Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana and other imprisoned Singh brothers. In order to implement this and for discussions with the central government, a high-level committee has been formed under the leadership of the President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Advocate Harjinder Singh, which will start its work immediately. If the central government does not cancel the execution sentence of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana by December 31, 2023, then in consideration of the appeals repeatedly sent to Sri Akal Takht Sahib by Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana and on the basis of the appeal submitted by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to Sri Amritsar, the matter will be deliberated.
“Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana is a living martyr of the country, who, with courage, determination, valor, and bravery, has made great sacrifices while facing oppression and atrocities against the Sikhs by the governments. The entire Sikh community prays for his well-being. His life is invaluable for the Sikh community and is a trust of the Sikh community. Therefore, the Panj Singh Sahibans have ordered Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana not to harm his health in any way and to immediately withdraw his hunger strike. Take care of your health. If the central government does not make a decision with compassion within the stipulated time, then the government will be responsible for the ensuing situation,” said the statement issued by the Sikh committee.
