Orange alert issued for Punjab as intense cold persists

The havoc of intense cold is escalating in Punjab. According to the weather department, an orange alert has been issued for the state on Monday and Tuesday due to dense fog.
Meanwhile, on Monday morning, dense fog affected daily life in many districts. As per the department, there will be a reduction in fog from December 27 onwards. However, even with a decrease in minimum temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, facing severe cold could be challenging. These districts of Punjab are colder than Shimla.

In 9 districts of Punjab, temperatures have dropped below Shimla. Ludhiana district is considered the coldest, where the temperature has reached up to 4 degrees Celsius. Additionally, in Amritsar, Ferozepur, Gurudaspur, and Ropar, temperatures have been recorded at least 5 degrees Celsius lower.
