During the three days’ monsoon session of Haryana assembly which concluded on Tuesday, as many 11 bills presented by the ruling faction were passed. Among these, the most prominent bills were related to land acquisition and the prevention of unfair means. The opposition party’s legislators walked out of the session saying that there are certain flaws in the bills, and those are required to be addressed.
The bills passed on August 24, 2021, include: The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Haryana Amendment) Bill, 2021, The Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority, Bill, 2021, The Haryana Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2021, The Haryana Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2021, The Haryana Parivar Pehchan Patra Bill, 2021 (as amended), and The Haryana Appropriation (No. 3) Bill, 2021.
In continuation to this, what is of more importance to state is that during the presentation of a bill pertaining to land acquisition, the discussion led to heated arguments. In this connection, the leader of the opposition Bhupender Singh Hooda took on the government saying that this bill will harm the benefits of the farmers undoubtedly, which is a matter of serious concern. While reacting to this, Chief Minister Manohar Lal replied that the farmers don’t need to worry as the bill will pave new paths of development for them to secure their benefits.
Besides, the paper leak issue caused a ruckus as Congress demanded the CBI inquiry into the matter.
