Under Operation Akraman-V, a special drive to clean-up the crime and criminal elements across the state, Haryana Police has successfully conducted a series of coordinated raids and arrested 1334 accused while lodging 565 FIRs under various sections of IPC, NDPS, Arms and Excise Act. Disclosing this here on Monday, Director General of Police (DGP), PK Agrawal informed that the Police Department had been collecting pinpointed intelligence on criminal activities in the State including trafficking of illegal arms, narcotic substances and illicit liquor.
1443 teams comprising 7620 Police personnel under the command of SsP/DCsP conducted coordinated raids starting early morning on 26th March throughout the day till
evening.
The element of surprise and simultaneous targeting of criminals at multiple locations led to very encouraging results. A total of 80 illegal firearms and 40 cartridges were seized. Similarly, 52.704 kg ganja, 29.8 gram heroin, over 35 kg poppy husk, 595 gram opium, 19.76 gram smack, 14 gram sulpha, 2.488 kg charas, 1222 prohibited tablets and 62 capsules were also recovered.
During these raids, the raiding teams have also managed to nab 5 most wanted/other offenders carrying cash rewards. Police has also arrested 218 proclaimed offenders and 39 bail jumpers. Among the arrested POs and Bail Jumpers, many of them were reported to be evading their arrest for a long time. In addition, 16 other accused involved in heinous crimes were also nabbed during the special drive.
Cracking down on bootleggers, the teams confiscated 271 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, 4288 bottles of country-made liquor, 685 bottles of beer, 977 bottles of licit liquor, 238 bottles of illicit liquor and 1366 litres of lahan. Police has also recovered cash over Rs 2,30,870 from the accused arrested under Gambling Act.
According to the statement, the special drive was the fifth in the series of intelligence-driven statewide crackdowns under “Operation Akraman”.
