Following the direct orders of Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij, the state police launched a comprehensive anti-crime offensive – Operation Aakraman- 7 yesterday. In a coordinated strike, 1355 police teams comprising 6582 officials fanned out across Haryana, targeting criminal elements, drug smugglers, and miscreants. Their mission was clear: to dismantle clandestine operations and restore public safety.

The meticulous operation yielded immediate results. Over 490 cases were registered under various laws, including the Indian Penal Code, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Excise Act, and Arms Act. These swift actions led to the apprehension of 683 individuals involved in illegal activities.

Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shri Shatrujeet Kapur informed that the police are gathering accurate information on criminal activities in the state, including smuggling of illegal weapons, narcotics, and illicit liquor. Under the leadership of SP and DCP, 1355 teams of 6582 police personnel-initiated raids on crimes and criminals from early morning on January 14, continuing until late evening.

Targeting criminals through simultaneous raids at two different locations yielded much better results. During this period, 22 FIRs were registered by the police teams under the Arms Act. Nine pistols, two revolvers, nine country-made pistols, five country-made pistols, and 31 cartridges were recovered in the state, with seven arrests made in this case. Additionally, 3.504 kg of ganja, 18.75 grams of heroin, 20 grams of smack, and 705 grams of charas were recovered. Along with this, 600 banned narcotic pills/capsules/injections were also seized, leading to the arrest of nine accused across the state.

He said that during this operation, the teams tightened their grip on notorious criminals, arresting 10 individuals with rewards and one most-wanted criminal. Besides, the police also succeeded in arresting one cyber-criminal, 53 proclaimed offenders, and 66 bail jumpers. These criminals, who were apprehended, were wanted in many cases and were evading arrest. In addition to this, during the special operation, 118 other accused involved in various cases were also apprehended, and one mobile phone, 18 vehicles, etc., were recovered from their possession.

During the special operation, the police succeeded in cracking down on liquor smugglers, seizing 155 bottles of English liquor, 3780 bottles of country liquor, 126 bottles of beer, 298 liters of illicit liquor, 970 liters of legal liquor, and 1282 liters of liquor. Police also recovered cash worth Rs 280,254 from the possession of the accused arrested under the Gambling Act. During this campaign, challans were also issued against 242 vehicles violating lane-driving rules.
