Nursing Officers at the All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Hospital in Bathinda have been staging protests against the AIIMS administration since November 25. They express their frustration over the unilateral decision to increase the professional grade of new Nursing Officers without any prior intimation. Additionally, they demand an increase in the monthly allowance from 6 to 8 and have been actively protesting for an extended period.
Approximately 600 Nursing Staff Officers from AIIMS Hospital have decided to cease work and go on strike, citing the administration’s unwillingness to address their concerns. The crux of their protest revolves around the administration’s alleged indifference towards their demands, especially regarding the unannounced two-year extension of the professional grade for new Nursing Officers and the increase in monthly allowances from 6 to 8.
The Nursing Staff Officers have been demonstrating their grievances daily, both inside and outside the AIIMS premises. Interestingly, media personnel have been restricted from entering the hospital premises during their protest hours. Furthermore, attempts to bring the voices of these Nursing Officers to the public through media coverage have been met with resistance.
