NSS volunteers take out de-addiction awareness rally

With the aim of ensuring their participation in making Panchkula drug-free, NSS volunteers of Sector-1 College took out a drug de-addiction awareness rally. The rally was flagged off by college principal Yashpal Singh. With the goal of motivating the common people not to consume drugs, the rally started from Sector-1 College campus and reached Upperli Chowki village located in Sector-32 via Majri Chowk and Lower Chowki village. During the rally, to avoid the curse of drug addiction and make the family and society drug-free, volunteers conveyed the message to people to stay away from all kinds of drugs by carrying placards with slogans and echoing loud slogans along the route.

Before flagging off the rally, Principal Yashpal Singh addressed the volunteers. He mentioned that the penetration of drugs among the youth is increasing day by day. Youth become victims of drug addiction at an early age, not only becoming vulnerable to serious diseases but also often turning towards criminal tendencies due to bad company. In such a situation, there is a need to run a large-scale public awareness campaign to eliminate drug addiction from society. The awareness campaign for drug de-addiction being run by the NSS volunteers of Sector-1 College will undoubtedly prove helpful in making Panchkula drug-free.

NSS Program Officer of the college, Dr. Anil Kumar Pandey, said that in the walkathon organized on the day of National Youth Day, Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta appealed to the volunteers to ensure their participation in seven issues to register the identity of Panchkula on the map of the country.
