No SC relief for Asaram Bapu in bail plea

Asaram Bapu, who is in jail on rape charges, has not got relief even from the Supreme Court on Tuesday. He had filed an application for bail in the apex court but his appeal was rejected here. In the year 2022, Rajasthan High Court had refused to grant him bail. The

apex court has asked him to approach the High Court for bail.
In his bail application, Asaram has argued that he has been in jail for the last 10 years. He says that he is above 80 years of age and is suffering from many serious diseases. Statistics show that Asaram has filed bail petition in the court at least 15 times.

Sentenced in another rape case
Asaram is serving life imprisonment in the case of raping his female students. He was also sentenced to life imprisonment in a 2013 rape case. This case was filed against him by a woman from Surat. The woman alleged that Asaram repeatedly raped her inside the ashram. Between 2001 and 2006, Baba kept doing nefarious activities with the woman.

Life imprisonment to both father and son in rape case
Two sisters had also filed a rape case against Asaram. Both sisters alleged that Asaram and his son Narayan Sai raped them between 2001 and 2006. In 2019, Surat court found Narayan Sai guilty of rape and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The Gandhi Nagar court convicted Asaram and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

10 years and 15 bail applications
During a period of ten years, Asaram Bapu filed bail applications more than 15 times from the High Court to the Supreme Court. Powerful lawyers like Ram Jethmalani (now deceased), Subramanian Swamy and Salman Khurshid were brought into the legal arena, but still the door of Jodhpur Central Jail did not open for Baba.
31 August 2013, this was the day when Asaram Bapu was arrested. Since then Bapu never got the open air outside the jail again. However, during this period the door of Jodhpur Central Jail opened several times. Many prisoners were released from jail. Even celebrities like Salman Khan came inside this jail during Baba’s stay and came out within three days, about which Bapu often used to complain. Asaram Bapu had convicted in a rape of a minor girl and believes that coming like Salman is also like coming to jail. It is not known when he came and when he went.
