Nitish meets Mamata to unify anti-BJP parties

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today categorically said that there is ‘no ego clash’ on the formation of a grand alliance of anti-BJP parties, and the scenario is set to be the people vs BJP in the 2024 general elections. She was speaking after her brief meeting with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and his deputy, Tejashwi Yadav.

Mamata went on to say that she has no issue bringing all like-minded Opposition parties on one platform to take on the saffron party in the big electoral tussle.

She said, “I have sent a request to Nitish Kumar. The Jayaprakash (Narayan) Ji movement began in Bihar. We may then decide where we need to go after holding an all-party meeting in Bihar. However, we must first send a message that we are one. I’ve already mentioned that I don’t have any objections. I have consistently emphasised the need to pull down the curtain on the BJP. They have grown into big heroes due to media exaggeration. She addressed the media alongside the two senior Bihar politicians, saying, “All they dabble in is jumlas and goondaism.

Regarding the Nitish Kumar party’s planned one-seat, one-candidate rule, she said that “if thought, vision, and mission are clear, there will be no issues.”

Nitish called his meeting with his West Bengal counterpart fruitful and said they discussed on different issues regarding the preparations ahead of the upcoming assembly polls in several states and the general elections next year.

“Those who are ruling now have nothing to do with the development of the country. Their only aim is to do their own publicity and nothing else.

Earlier today, Nitish Kumar landed in West Bengal with the aim of bringing like-minded Opposition parties together in one place and with no loss for Congress. He went to meet Ms Banerjee at the West Bengal state secretariat in Kolkata to talk about the solidarity among the Opposition parties. Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav will go to Lucknow today to meet Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

In fact, TMC and SP are currently not in a mood to join hands with the Congress.
