MUMBAI: The National Investigation Agency arrested two Mumbai-based associates of D-Company on Wednesday.
Arif Abubakar Shaikh of Goregaon and Shabbir Abubakar Shaikh of Mira Road were arrested for their alleged involvement in terror/criminal activities of the international terrorist network of D-Company involving Dawood Ibrahim and his associates including Haji Anees, Chhota Shakeel, Javed Patel and Tiger Memon. The D-Company carries out arms smuggling, narcoterrorism, money laundering, circulation of FICN and are in unauthorised possession/involved in acquisition of key assets for raising terror funds and working in active collaboration with international terrorist organization including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Al Qaeda (AQ).
Investigation has revealed that both the arrested accused were involved in illegal activities of D-Company and were indulged in terror financing in the western suburbs of Mumbai. The duo are close associates of Chhota Shakeel, who operates an international criminal syndicate from Pakistan and is involved in extortions, narcotics smuggling and violent terrorist activities in India.
