The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted various searches in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday in connection with a case involving the sponsorship of terrorism and connected to shady activities of the Al Huda Educational Trust in the Union Territory.
The anti-terror agency has been conducting searches in the Jammu and Kashmir districts of Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu, Srinagar, Pulwama, Budgam, Shopian, and Bandipora. According to NIA officials, the case is connected to the dubious activities of Al Huda Educational Trust in the Rajouri area of Jammu and Kashmir.
As a front organisation for Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir, which was designated as an “unlawful association” under the UA(P)A in 2019, the Al Huda Educational Trust’s funding patterns and activities were the subject of a suo-motu investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
According to sources, these raids were conducted by several NIA teams based on particular inputs. The Central Reserve Police Force and the Jammu and Kashmir Police coordinated the operations (CRPF).
