In the Narnaul region of Haryana, the NHAI took action against hotels near Jat Guwana Toll Plaza on National Highway 152D. The team conducted raids at a hotel and liquor shops, but due to the rural opposition, the action against other hotels had to be halted. On Wednesday afternoon, the NHAI team initiated action against hotels within an 80-meter radius of the highway.
As locals got wind of this action, they gathered and began protesting the raids, prompting the NHAI to pause their operation midway. While attempting to make Jat Guwana Toll Plaza toll-free during the dispute escalation, the police presence prevented them from doing so. Amidst the rising tension, the Sadar police station arrived, calming the rural protesters.
Subsequently, NHAI officials stated that any individual intending to open a hotel within 80 meters of the NHAI must first obtain their approval, easing the villagers’ anger. No commercial activities are allowed within the NHAI’s 80-meter radius.
Hence, the NHAI conducted raids on hotels near the National Highway on this occasion. Subdivisional Magistrate Gaje Singh and heavy police forces, including the SHO of Sadar Thana, were present during this incident.
