NHAI partners with DeltaBulk for Rs 673 cr multi-modal logistics park in Nagpur

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has partnered with DC Multi Modal Park (Nagpur) Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of DeltaBulk Shipping India, to establish a multi-modal logistics park (MMLP) in Maharashtra’s Nagpur. With an estimated investment of Rs 673 crore, the project marks a significant step under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, aiming to enhance the country’s logistics infrastructure.
Covering 150 acres, the MMLP will be developed through a Public-Private Partnership model, making it Maharashtra’s pioneering MMLP under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. The project will unfold in three phases, with Phase-I, requiring an investment of Rs 137 crore, anticipated to conclude within two years.
Over a 45-year period, the MMLP is expected to handle approximately 9.47 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo, providing a substantial boost to industrial zones in the surrounding areas, including Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, and Gondiya. The development is poised to generate numerous employment opportunities, fostering economic growth in the region.
Strategically located near Sindi Railway station in Wadha district, the MMLP site sits about 3 km from the Nagpur–Mumbai Maha-Samruddhi Mahamarg and is adjacent to the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai rail line. The project benefits from a 3 km rail siding from Sindi Railway station and is accessible from the four-lane Nagpur–Aurangabad, NH 361. It is positioned 48 km from Nagpur International Airport and 56 km from Nagpur railway station.
The government has established a Special Purpose Vehicle, Nagpur MMLP Pvt Ltd, through collaboration between the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), a wholly-owned NHAI subsidiary, and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA). JNPA has contributed land for the MMLP’s development, while NHLML is responsible for external rail and road connectivity, water supply, and power supply.
The MMLP aims to offer comprehensive facilities, including warehouses, cold storages, intermodal transfers, container terminals, and bulk/break-bulk cargo terminals. It will also provide Value Added Services such as sorting/grading, aggregation/desegregation areas, bonded warehouse and customs facilities, and additional logistics support facilities like offices for freight forwarders and transporters, as well as truck terminals.
