Newly appointed PPCC In-Charge, Devendra Yadav, sets foot in Punjab amidst party turmoil

Devendra Yadav, assuming his position as the in-charge of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC), commenced his political journey with visits to the Golden Temple, Durgiana Temple, and Ram Tirath shrine. This move comes amidst a tug-of-war between senior party figures Navjot Singh Sidhu and Partap Singh Bajwa over the organization of rallies within the state.

Accompanied by Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Navjot Singh Sidhu at the Golden Temple, Sidhu departed the shrine moments before the others. Addressing the media, Sidhu emphasized his commitment to the people of Punjab, stating, “My only faction is the millions residing here and abroad. I will fight for them regardless of objections.”

Responding to Bajwa’s objections, Sidhu expressed support for any sizable gatherings benefiting Punjab. Meanwhile, Warring dismissed talk of factionalism within the party, emphasizing the importance of unity and teamwork to strengthen the Punjab Congress.

In response to rallies led by Sidhu, Warring stressed the need for adherence to party discipline, regardless of a leader’s status, highlighting the significance of maintaining decorum.
Yadav, engaging with the media, refrained from immediate comments on the Punjab scenario, intending to assess the situation before making statements. Additionally, discussions about alliances within the state will be conducted based on the sentiments of the party’s rank and file.

Meanwhile, Warring condemned another FIR against Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, denouncing it as an affront to democracy and the judiciary. Separately, Bajwa held a meeting with Yadav in Amritsar, highlighting the ongoing discussions and engagements within the party.
