The body of Ramandeep Singh, a young man who fell victim to a fatal attack eight days ago in New Zealand, has been brought back to his hometown of Kotli Shahpur in Gurdaspur. Ramandeep had travelled to New Zealand five years ago and tragically met his demise there. His family is demanding stringent punishment for his attackers.
Ramandeep’s father, Dhanna Singh, recounted that after completing his 12th grade, Ramandeep had moved to New Zealand in 2018. Employed as a security guard in a company, he was on duty at a park when the unfortunate incident occurred.
As per his father’s account, eight days ago, Ramandeep’s friend informed the family that while on park duty, Ramandeep confronted two individuals consuming alcohol. When he asked them to vacate the premises, they became aggressive and, under the influence of alcohol, fatally assaulted him.
Following the incident, the authorities apprehended the perpetrators. The family is urging the government to create local job opportunities for youth, reducing the necessity for them to seek employment overseas.
