New Congress state in-charge sets agenda for Lok Sabha elections preparation

In his inaugural meeting since assuming leadership of the Maharashtra unit, seasoned Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala outlined a series of tasks for state leaders. The directives ranged from orchestrating specialized campaigns and engaging with workers to hosting leadership camps, all with an eye on the upcoming general elections.

Chennithala, in charge of the Congress state unit, expressed the need to initiate preparations for the Lok Sabha elections during the extended state executive council meeting. He instructed party leaders to conduct meetings and interaction programs across six divisions of the state. Additionally, plans include organizing meetings at the district, block, and panchayat levels. The first week of February will witness special leadership camps for workers spanning the entire state.

Addressing questions about seat-sharing arrangements within the Maha Vikas Aghadi, Chennithala stated that a preliminary meeting in Delhi among the three parties affirmed their commitment to contesting the elections as an alliance. While the exact number of seats to be contested is yet to be finalized, Chennithala emphasized the unity of the three parties in the electoral battle.

“The party leaders and workers are dedicated to working for the Congress party’s victory in the Lok Sabha elections. We will contest this election under the leadership of the Maha Vikas Aghadi. The sentiments of the people of Maharashtra will be reflected in the election results,” said Chennithala.

Simultaneously, leaders of the tripartite MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi) are expected to convene in Mumbai on Friday to further discussions initiated in the Delhi meeting. In the coming week, top leaders from the three parties will meet in Delhi to finalize seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming elections.
