A search and rescue team comprised of Nepal Army and Nepal Police recovered all of the victims’ bodies from a helicopter accident site in Nepal’s Solukhumbu District.
“We have recovered all the bodies at the crash site. Helicopters which went to retrieve the body aren’t able to land near the site due to inclement weather,” the Chief District Officer of Solukhumbu Basanta Bhattarai told the media agency ANI over the call on Tuesday.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, there were six passengers on board the helicopter, including the pilot. According to the announcement, the passengers on board the helicopter were two Mexican men and three women, as well as a Nepali pilot.
Earlier this morning, the Nepal Army, police, and two helicopters were deployed for a search and rescue mission.
“The helicopter has been found at the border of Likhu PK village council and Dudhkunda Municipality-2 commonly called Lamajura Danda. The village has retrieved the five bodies,” Koshi Province Police DIG Rajeshnath Bastola said in his statement.
According to the authorities, the helicopter appears to have collided with a tree on the summit.
