NCB arrests missing drugs supplier after ‘biggest’ seizure linked to Sushant case

MUMBAI: In the “biggest” seizure of contraband in the drug case linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has recovered hashish, besides other drugs, and cash worth crores during raids in Mumbai, sources said. Drugs seized from various locations in Mumbai’s posh Andheri West area include 5 kg of hashish worth Rs 2.5 crore, small quantities of opioids (afeem) and MDMA, street name Ecstasy, they said.

The agency has also arrested missing drugs supplier Regal Mahakal—under its scanner for a long time—who has given information based on which more raids are being conducted in the city. Sources added that the accused, whose locations are being raided, is the main supplier of drugs to Regal Mahakala—sent to two days in police custody. Regal Mahakal’s real name is Jainendra Jain. Regal used to get drugs from Azam Shaikh. NCB raided his premises on Tuesday night and recovered Rs 13.5 lakh in cash, 5 kg of hashish and afeem. Azam used to get the drugs from Himachal Pradesh, and is one of the main suppliers of drugs in the city.

NCB will produce him in court on Thursday. “Today, we have arrested Regal Mahakal. We cannot disclose his links with Rhea Chakraborty and Showik,” said NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede, who is leading the operations. According to sources, Regel Mahakal used to supply drugs to another accused Anuj Keshwani, who was arrested in September. Keshwani allegedly supplied drugs to Rhea Chakraborty and Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead in his Mumbai apartment in June this year.

Sushant’s death led to a multi-agency probe against Rhea Chakraborty on the basis of a case filed by the late actor’s father. The probe revealed chats on drugs after which the NCB started a separate investigation into the links.
