Municipal Corporation faces backlash over aggressive garbage collection

The Municipal Corporation is being forceful in the matter of garbage collection. The Municipal Corporation initially boasted of collecting garbage from the city free of cost. Now, Rs 1.89 crore is being recovered from industrialists in the name of garbage collection.

The bill for seven months per factory has been sent at the rate of Rs 3,000 per month. Industrialists are shocked by this arrogance of the Municipal Corporation. A warning has also been given not to do any work related to the property if the garbage tax is not deposited.
The state of mismanagement of the Municipal Corporation is such that now even the employees who collect door-to-door garbage are not reaching the industrial area.

Industrialists are upset with the working style of the Municipal Corporation. On one hand, garbage tax is being collected by giving warnings, on the other hand, the employees collecting garbage are missing. The Municipal Corporation does not yet have a plan to send vehicles door to door. On the other hand, corporation officials are also collecting garbage charges from Sector-20.

One thousand businessmen run factories in the industrial area Phase-1 and 2. Garbage charges of Rs 21,000 have been sent to everyone at the rate of Rs 3,000 each for seven months. At the same time, no one has any information about the vehicles that collect door-to-door garbage. Traders say that this kind of recovery from the corporation’s side is very wrong. This should be completely banned. Several meetings have been held with Municipal Corporation officials. Even after this, it could not be stopped.

No vehicle comes door to door for garbage collection. Garbage charges have been sent after adding it for seven months. Rs 21,000 had to be paid for this. No such tax is levied in Chandigarh. The Municipal Corporation is coercing the traders. No meeting has been held with the traders before imposing this tax. – Rakesh Garg, General Secretary, Panchkula Industry Association

If someone does not pay the garbage collection charges, then NOC is not available for any work on the property. That’s why everyone is forced to deposit it. This kind of decision is not right. After this, it could not be closed. Traders are getting their vehicles thrown away. People are facing problems due to this. – CB Goyal, Industrialist Phase-2.

Vehicles are being sent door to door by the Municipal Corporation. If this is not done by the garbage collection company, then soon a fine will be imposed on the company. Instructions have also been issued to companies to increase vehicles. People should complain on the helpline number. Action will be taken by the corporation. – Sachin Gupta, Commissioner, Panchkula Municipal Corporation.
