MUMBAI ENGINEER’S 3 HUMANOID ROBOTS ‘EXTEND’ HELPING HANDS IN COVID TIMES

Santosh Hulawale, a resident of Mumbai and a computer engineer by profession, has made three robots that he claims will be helpful in assisting healthcare workers and patients amid the pandemic.

Hulawale has been working in the field of robotics for the last 20 years. “I have designed 48 robots and till now, have developed 18 robots,” he said. The current three robots made by Hulawale are being widely discussed.

Santosh first made a SHR (Service Humanite Robot) robot in his own home. This type of robot can provide a wide variety of services, including entertaining humans. Once the program is fixed in the robot, this robot can talk to humans. If any person wants to shake hands with this robot, this robot automatically extends its hands. It is being thought that this robot can to some extent address the shortage of manpower that has been witnessed during the pandemic period.

The name of the second robot made by Santosh is MSR (Multiple Service Robot). It is a robot that can perform a variety of different types of services or work on its own. If the related programme is fed into this robot, this robot can bring medicines, food, tea, coffee and even water in front of you. Santosh said that this robot can walk without a human. Amid the pandemic when all healthcare systems are under

stress, this type of robot can reduce the work stress of many people in a big way.

The third robot made by Santosh has been named DMR (Disaster Management Robot). The specialty of this robot is that this robot is very powerful and can easily lift a weight of about 200 kg. An arm is attached to this robot. There is also a CCTV camera in front of it. Through this, the robot can go to any area and inspect or investigate it. Also, by removing the hand of the robot and keeping the chair in that position, the trouble of pushing the patient out of the wheelchair can also be avoided. Also this robot can be used to sanitize any place.

The price of these robots ranges between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 9 lakh, which is cheaper than those available in other countries. The most important thing about these robots made by Santosh Hulawale is that they are Made in India and he believes that these robots can be used in the current crisis.
