Mother sells daughter in pursuit of money in Kekri

A shocking incident has come to light in Ajmer. In pursuit of money, a modern-era mother has sold her 14-year-old daughter. Not only that, but the mother had also married the accused whom she sold her daughter to. The child made a distress call to the Childline helpline at 1098, seeking help. Subsequently, with the assistance of the police, the victim was saved. This case is from the Savar police station area in the Kekri district.
Initial investigations by the police revealed that the family was originally from Odisha. The mother of the minor had conspired with her maternal uncle, who was residing far away, to sell her. Currently, the girl has been placed in a shelter home. The complete details of this case will be revealed after further investigation.
Anjali Sharma, the chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, stated that a girl called the Childline helpline at 1098 seeking assistance. Based on the information, the girl was traced using a mobile location. With the help of the police, the girl was rescued from Bajata village near Savar.
During the police inquiry, the victim revealed that her mother, along with her maternal uncle, had sold her and arranged her marriage to the accused.
The police have initiated medical examinations and further actions.
In the police investigation, it was revealed that the youth used to work at a Laddu factory in Bundi. The youth had given money to the mother of the minor. After bringing the girl to Bajata, he manipulated the details in the Aadhaar card and conducted the marriage on January 2. Later, the youth attempted to force himself on the minor. When the victim resisted, the accused physically assaulted her. This made the victim distressed, prompting her to call Childline at 1098 for help.
Rajveer Singh, the in-charge of the Savar police station, mentioned that the Child Welfare Committee had sought police assistance, which was provided. Subsequently, the police took custody of the girl. However, as of now, no formal report has been filed.
