Mohali police arrest singer-songwriter gangster Harbir Sohal

Mohali Police has succeeded in arresting a person named Harbir Singh Sohal. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 384, 34 of the IPC and 7, 8 of the Arms Act. Disclosing this here today SSP Mohali Viveksheel Soni said that 30 bore Chinese pistols, 3 magazines, 9mm pistols and 50 live ammunition were recovered from Sohal.

SSP Soni told the media that the arrest of the man, who was a singer and songwriter, with heavy weapons and animation, indicated that he was on the verge of a major incident. He said that Sohal was a resident of Amritsar district about whom the police had received information from a reliable informant. He also said that this person has been arrested from the vacant flats at Bhagomajra. Police had received information that another accomplice, Amritpal Singh Bassi, and Sohana kept shifting their residing places from Pathana to Kharar and was running a net calling group. His accomplices Arshdeep Singh Arash in Canada and Gurjant Singh Janta in Australia are demanding ransom from big businessmen through net calling. Police have claimed that Sohal, a well-known singer, and songwriter, has been a close associate of A-category gangster Jaipal Bhullar and has been absconding for some time. Bhullar has bought many properties in the name of Sohal and his relatives.

It may be recalled that Jaipal Bhullar was killed by Mohali police during an operation in Calcutta along with another person Jaspreet Singh of village Todermajra Kharar was also killed during the same operation. Now that the police have stepped in after investigating a few more cases, they have succeeded in reaching the whereabouts of Harbir Sohal and arrested him during the operation.
