Maharashtra Navnirman Sena workers created a ruckus at Poet Kumar Vishwas’ show in Nashik that was organised to celebrate Hindi Diwas.
The Uttar Bhartiya Sanghthan, one of the organisers, was targeted by MNS workers. The organisers of the event allegedly did not issue passes to the MNS workers to attend the show, which led to the disagreement and ruckus that followed. MNS leader Ankush Pawar that we were ready to “sit on the floor” of Kalidas auditorium., but were denied entry on the grounds that the function was for Hindi speakers and not for Marathi people.
Keeping the escalating situation in mind, the poet Vishwas eventually decided to cancel the show. The situation was pacified following the intervention of Nashik Police & BJP MLA Seema Hirey. The events of Thursday are a clear indication that the MNS’ stand against non-Marathi’s is central to their political agendas.
