The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a weather forecast for the upcoming days in the region, predicting a mix of rain and snowfall in different areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the Meteorological Office, on November 8, the weather will be cloudy but dry. However, late in the evening, there is a possibility of light snowfall at a few places in the higher catchment areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Moving forward, on November 9, the MeT office predicted light rain in the plains and light snowfall in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, along with a few places in the Ladakh Union Territory. The forecast suggests that there is a possibility of 4-5 inches of snowfall in the higher reaches, particularly in the northwestern parts of the region. Roads, including the Mughal Road, Sinthan Top, Razdan Pass, and Zojila Pass, are expected to be affected by the snowfall, while most plains in the valley will experience rain.
The MeT office further stated that the weather will remain dry, with no significant chance of heavy precipitation expected from November 10 to 16.
Presently, the weather is mainly clear to partly cloudy, with dry conditions expected over the next 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir. The minimum temperatures recorded in various locations are as follows: Srinagar at 2.7 degrees Celsius, Qazigund at 1.8 degrees, Pahalgam at -0.3 degrees, Kupwara at 1.2 degrees, Kokernag at 4.2 degrees, and Gulmarg at 2.4 degrees.
