The Election Commission is now on high alert regarding the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections. Duties have been assigned to approximately 35,000 employees for the 19 assembly seats in the capital. Among them, many employees and officials have resorted to various excuses and improvisations to avoid election duties.
1,000 applications have been submitted to remove duties:
Election training has just begun, and 1,000 applications have already been submitted to cancel duties. Some are making excuses related to family problems, while others want their names removed from election duty citing reasons like childbirth, mother-in-law’s illness, and their parents’ treatments. About 400 employees want to take leave from election duty by pretending to be sick. Medical boards have only considered 40 out of these 400 employees as seriously ill. In addition to this, 16 employees have been given leave for urgent work.
Leaders are recommending the removal of duties:
Employees have made recommendations in bulk to leaders for duty removal. Letters are also being sent from the CMO’s office to cancel duties. In recent days, the Jaipur District Election Officer has received numerous recommendations for cancelling election duties, including those from cabinet ministers, state ministers, MLAs, and IAS officers.
Most of the recommendations have come from the personal staff of ministers. Health Minister Parsadi Lal Meena has submitted 5, Jal Sansadhan Minister Mahendrajit Singh Malviya has submitted 5, Higher Education Minister Rajendra Yadav has submitted 4, and Women and Child Development Minister Mamata Bhupesh has submitted 3 recommendations to the Election Department.
