Mines dept issues WhatsApp number for reporting illegal mining

Following the directives of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the state’s Mines Department has established a control room at the headquarters to monitor and control illegal mining activities. The department has released the number of this control room, which will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Now, any person can provide information or file a complaint related to illegal mining, illegal mineral transportation, and illegal mineral storage in any part of the state on this number.
During a virtual meeting with department officials, Mines Secretary Anandi gave clear instructions that the government’s objective is to eliminate illegal mining activities. For this purpose, SM Vigilance S.P. Sharma has been appointed as the in-charge of the established control room.
The control room has commenced its operations, and immediate action has been instructed based on the information received by the control room.
Instructions have been given for prompt action on the information received in the control room and complaints on WhatsApp. A state-level review will also be conducted on the information and complaints received on WhatsApp.
The seriousness of the state government in cracking down on illegal mining activities can be understood from the fact that Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant is regularly reviewing its progress and providing necessary directions.
A campaign against illegal mining activities jointly by the Mines, Revenue, Transport, Police, and Forest Departments has been underway in the state since January 15. The campaign will continue until January 31.
