Mehraj-Ul-Alam observed with religious fervour across Kashmir valley

The auspicious occasion of Mehraj-Ul-Alam, commemorating Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) ascension to the heavens, was celebrated with great religious fervour across the Kashmir valley on Thursday.

The largest gathering took place at the Asar-e-Sharief Hazratbal, located on the banks of Dal Lake, where thousands of devotees, including men, women, and children, participated in night-long prayers known as “Shab Khawani.” Special prayers were offered throughout the night, marking the occasion on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

Following the Fajr prayer, the Holy relic of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), known as “Moie-e-Muqadas,” was displayed before the devotees at the Hazratbal shrine, allowing them to catch a glimpse of the revered relic. Devotees will have the opportunity to view the holy relic after every prayer session for the next two days and on the following Friday. Late-night prayer functions were also organized at Jenab Sahab Soura Srinagar, along with other shrines and mosques across the valley on Wednesday.

To facilitate the pilgrimage to the Hazratbal Shrine, authorities have deployed Srinagar Smart City Buses, which will ply from various parts of Kashmir, including Srinagar, to transport devotees to the holy site. Elaborate arrangements have been made by the authorities at the Hazratbal Shrine to ensure the comfort and convenience of devotees. Several political leaders and social activists extended their greetings to the people on the occasion, wishing them peace and prosperity.
