Many Haryana Leaders Frequent Punjab To Boost Party’s Campaign

The Punjab Assembly election is to be held on February 20 and Haryana political leaders are also on their toes to make their factions win the battle.

As many as 10-12 assembly constituencies of Malwa zone are directly linked to Haryana and it is believed that the state has an impact on 25-30 constituencies in Punjab in terms of demography and caste equations.

Therefore, the high command of all parties had prepared a list of stalwarts and leaders from Haryana for election campaign in Punjab. Most of the senior leaders of the Congress, the BJP and the INLD in Haryana continue to canvass and address voters in the neighbouring state.

All parties have issued instructions for their leaders in terms of election campaigning in Punjab ahead of the polls. A string of Cabinet ministers of Haryana is putting their best for their party and alliance parties’ contestants.

Power Minister Ranjit Singh, who also holds the charge of prison in the state, is campaigning in Fajilka and Sardulgarh and prior to this, he had participated in election programme conducted in Balluana.

Omprakash Yadav, who is in charge of ministry of social Justice, had been involved in campaigning in Derabassi and likely to canvass in other Assembly seats.

In a bid to attract youth, sports minister Sandeep Singh has been assigned the duty of canvassing in Punjab elections.

BJP legislators – Subhash Sudha, Aseem Goyal, Seema Trikha, Lakshman Napa, Dura Ram, Sita Ram Yadav and Ghansyam Das – are paying visits in different assemblies of Punjab across the state.

The Congress stalwarts and party leaders of Haryana are also campaigning in support of party contestants in Punjab elections.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the former chief minister of Haryana, attended election programme on February 2 in Lahra constituency in Sangrur district in support of party contestant Rajinder Kaur Bhattal.

His son and and Rajay Sabha MP Deepender Hooda addressed several public meetings in support of party’s CM candidate Charanjeet Singh Channi.

Kumari Seleja, the Haryana Congress president, is also addressing voters in Punjab to come up in support of the party.

Keeping in view its bonding with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has come up in support of the party and its alliance partner Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). The party’s general secretary and an MLA from Ellenabad, Haryana, continues to canvass and participate actively in election campaigning.

Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), an alliance partner of the BJP government in Haryana, has refrained itself from campaigning in support of any party in Punjab.
