A scooter rider died after he collided with a speeding car near the Kariyana Palya area in Bengaluru, said police. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) West Bengaluru, the deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar. “Around 7:30 AM, a car speeding from Palya side of Chikkegowda towards Uttara Halli road collided with a scooter rider on Technology road,” said police.
The DCP said that the accident happened due to the negligence of the car driver.
“Car driver was driving recklessly and negligently and therefore collided with the oncoming scooter,” he added. The scooter rider died on the spot due to severe injuries, while the accused fled from the scene in his car, he added.
In this regard, the police station has registered a case under Section 279-304(A) of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Motor Vehicles Act (IMV).
“An investigation has been carried out and action has been taken to find the accused and the car,” said DCP. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
