A 22-year-old Coimbatore man from Tamil Nadu was defrauded of Rs 7.84 lakh by a con artist while using a dating website.
The victim, Thiyagu, 22, was browsing the Locanto dating website on October 15. Soon after, he received a call from an unidentified individual who identified himself as Kumar and promised to set up a message and call the lady for him.
Based on that, the 22-year-old followed the unidentified person’s instructions and even wired Rs 2,500 to a five-star hotel in Coimbatore.

In accordance with Sections 420 of the IPC and 66 (D) of the IT Amendment Act of 2008, the police have filed cases. Additional inquiries are being conducted, and authorities are looking for the fugitive defendant.
