MAN COMMITS SUICIDE AFTER FACING HARASSMENT FROM LOAN SHARKS

On Wednesday, a 38-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at his Kurar home in Malad due to harassment. His family told the police that he had been threatened and harassed by loan sharks, prompting him to take such drastic measures.

According to the family, loan sharks were sending messages and calling the deceased’s coworkers to malign his reputation.

Duttguru Korgaonkar (39), an imitation jewelry businessman and resident of Kurar Village in Malad, is the complainant in the case, according to the Kurar police.

Sandeep had called him on April 23 and informed him that despite not having taken any loan, he had been receiving phone calls from various numbers asking him to repay the loan, according to Korgaonkar’s police statement.

Sandeep also told Korgaonkar that the loan sharks had been calling Sandeep’s male and female coworkers in his office, and that his coworkers had been questioning Sandeep about the loan-related calls, according to Korgaonkar’s police report.

Sandeep also told Korgaonkar that the loan sharks had been calling Sandeep’s coworkers in his office, and that his colleagues had been questioning Sandeep about the loan-related calls, according to Korgaonkar’s statement to the police.

Sandeep had filed a written complaint with the Kurar police on April 27 alleging that he had been harassed by loan sharks and that he had received derogatory messages and obscene images from them.

Sandeep committed suicide by hanging on Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., according to Korgaonkar, when he was alone at home. The police were then informed of the incident after which Kurar police had registered a case of accidental death in the matter. Loan sharks were sending messages to Sandeep’s friends, colleagues, and neighbours from at least five different mobile numbers, according to the police.

A case has been filed on charges of aiding suicide, cheating and dishonestly inducing the delivery of property, defamation, and cheating by personation through the use of computer resources.
