Major setback to AAP in Haryana, Nirmal Singh and daughter Chitra bid farewell to party

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered a major setback in Haryana after the senior party leader and former cabinet minister Nirmal Singh and his daughter and party’s Haryana unit state vice president Chitra Sarwara resigned from the party on Thursday. Divulging more details pertaining to this, Chitra Sarwara’s personal assistant Nitin Bhatia, said that both the leaders will join the Congress party next month in New Delhi. Nirmal Singh is believed to be very close to Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the Congress stalwart. It is also being learnt that Nirmal Singh and Chitra Sarwara will be made to contest the Ambala and Ambala cantt respectively and Anil Vij, the Home Minister and Aseem Goyal, both from the saffron BJP, are the sitting MLA’s from these seats.

Nirmal Singh has been four times MLA on the ticket of the Congress MLA from Naggal seats in1982, 1991, 1996 and 2005).Later, delimitation led to abolition of the Naggal seat in view of this, Nirmal Singh started contesting from Ambala City seat. While remaining in Congress earlier, he had held responsibilities in Youth Congress namely block president, district president Ambala and the state general secretary.

Apart from this, he also has been the the state president of the youth Congress Haryana for a period of seven years from 1982 to 1989. He also held the responsibility of the president, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) from 2000 to 2005. Carrying forward his political legacy, He made her daughter to come up with political debut in 2018. She also held several significant responsibilities in the Congress earlier namely General Secretary of All India Mahila Congress, National social media in-charge of Congress. Apart from being a politician, Chitra Sarwara a professional designer and social worker. Chitra contested the 2019 elections unsuccessfully as an independent candidate from Ambala Cantt.
