Maharashtra: Fire Erupts as Container Truck Overturns in Thane; One Person Dead

A fatal incident unfolded in Thane district as a container truck caught fire, resulting in the tragic death of one individual, officials reported. The calamity occurred when the truck, laden with goods, lost control and overturned on Ghodbunder Road, subsequently igniting in flames.

According to the Thane Municipal Corporation, the heavy commercial vehicle veered off course on the road connecting Thane to Ghodbunder Road. Upon receiving news of the accident, fire tenders and personnel from the Chitalsar police station swiftly reached the scene to commence a dousing operation.

After concerted efforts, the fire was successfully extinguished, but unfortunately, one person succumbed to burn injuries at the accident site. The police took custody of the deceased’s body, which was later sent for post-mortem examination.

To facilitate recovery operations, traffic police utilized a Hydra crane to remove the container truck from the scene. Normal traffic movement on the affected road was restored after a three-hour operation, as confirmed by officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation.
