Maharani College faces inquiry amidst class disruption

There has been another major revelation in the case of classes not being held at the state’s largest girls’ college, Maharani Mahavidyalaya. When information about classes not being held came to light, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alpana Kateja, requested a detailed timetable from all the teachers, which had yet to be provided by the Maharani College administration. The university administration is now taking a firm stance on this matter.
Meanwhile, action has been taken against The Daily Guardian for the news published on Saturday, “Maharani Mahavidyalaya: empty classrooms, missing teachers.” Professor Alpana Kateja has sought clarification from the college’s principal, Professor Neemali Singh. She has also asked for an explanation as to why the timetable has not been provided yet. On the other hand, some teachers arrived on time for classes on Saturday. However, so far, no action has been taken by the college principal against the teachers who were absent during the reality check conducted on Friday. According to the rules, the principal should have sought clarification from the teachers regarding their late arrival, but no action has been taken.
On the other hand, when there was action taken against the teachers in this matter and the reporter called regarding the timetable, Principal Prof. Neemali Singh evaded the issue throughout the day. She avoided talking on the phone, repeatedly referring to the meetings. However, in the evening, when the reporter called from another number, the principal stated that at the time when photos were taken of the classrooms, no classes were being held. However, she couldn’t provide information about which rooms were in use at that time. It should be noted that during the reality check, most of the classrooms were empty, as captured in the photos and videos taken by the team. Speaking on this issue, Professor Alpana Kateja said, “Not conducting classes is a very serious matter. We have taken note of the issue. Clarification has been sought from the college administration. An investigation will be conducted to determine which room classes should have been held in at that time. I am very serious about the students’ education.”
