The Ludhiana court has pronounced a five-year sentence on two employees of the Municipal Corporation, a technician, and a pump operator, for their involvement in a bribery case registered by the Economic Wing of Ludhiana Vigilance in 2018. The case pertains to the solicitation of a bribe of Rs 2,000 from an individual to reduce his bill to Rs 4,000 for a task worth Rs 6,000. The complainant cooperated with the vigilance authorities, leading to the apprehension of the accused.
Both accused individuals faced charges under different sections related to bribery, and the court, after establishing their guilt, sentenced them to five years in prison. The vigilance authorities were instrumental in exposing the corruption, resulting in strict legal action against the accused. The accused are currently serving their sentences and performing their duties.
The legal proceedings were under the supervision of Honorable Judge Dr. Ajit Attri, who ensured a fair trial. The court’s verdict sends a strong message against corruption, reinforcing the commitment to uphold justice and punish those involved in unethical practices.
