Lt Governor Manoj Sinha encourages public participation and accountability

In a significant display of community engagement, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha actively participated in the Block Diwas program at Bhalwal today, an initiative of the J&K UT Administration. Commending the enthusiastic response from the public, Lt Governor Sinha emphasized the transformative impact of the Jan-Bhagidari campaign on participatory governance, highlighting its role in empowering citizens, raising awareness about civic responsibilities, and ensuring accountability in the administrative framework.

Addressing the gathering, Lt Governor Sinha urged all sections of society to take dedicated initiatives towards creating clean, habitable panchayats, achieving a 100% literacy rate, preserving green spaces, and ensuring the complete saturation of all government schemes. He emphasized the importance of citizens’ commitment to society and their respective panchayats, expressing confidence that such dedication would enhance the quality of life and contribute to overall prosperity.

Reflecting on the substantial public participation in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and the 100% saturation of government schemes, Lt Governor Sinha asserted that these efforts would redress developmental imbalances and provide a significant boost to the local economy. He reiterated the commitment of the UT Administration to equitable and inclusive development, with a focus on empowering all segments of society, particularly the poor and underprivileged.

Lt Governor Sinha highlighted ongoing initiatives, including the promotion of regional languages, connectivity enhancement for remaining panchayats, support for industries, promotion of religious tourism, and harnessing the potential of the Agriculture & Allied sector. He emphasized the significance of more than a dozen self-employment schemes aimed at providing resources and training to youth, positioning them as potential game-changers in both urban and rural areas.

During the Block Diwas event, Lt Governor Sinha called on citizens to collaborate with the Civil Administration and Police in intensifying efforts to eradicate the drug supply chain and make their Panchayat Nasha-Mukt (drug-free). Addressing concerns raised by former PRI members, he assured them that their suggestions and genuine demands would be considered in the planning of the District Capex Budget.

In a directive to the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, Lt Governor Sinha urged a comprehensive review of playfield development in panchayats, ensuring that, by the end of April, every available land in Jammu District hosts a playfield. The Lt Governor inspected stalls from various departments, addressing citizens’ grievances and distributing sanction letters to beneficiaries under different government schemes.

The event witnessed the presence of prominent figures, including Bharat Bhushan, Chairman of District Development Council Jammu, Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, along with senior officers, former PRI members, and a large gathering of citizens.
