Legislators flaunt cultural attire in first assembly session

In the 16th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, various colours were witnessed this time. The legislators showcased the diverse cultures of different regions of Rajasthan. Several BJP legislators appeared in the assembly wearing saffron attire and turbans. Meanwhile, Hawa Mahal MLA Balmukund Acharya arrived at the assembly with a mace and a plume, but permission to bring the mace inside was not granted. Instead, he entered the assembly breaking a coconut on the stairs.
Elected from the emerging Bharat Adivasi Party, the third-largest party in Rajasthan, MLAs Rajkumar Raut, Umesh Meena, and Thavarchand arrived in the assembly donning their traditional attire. Rajkumar Raut stated that India is known as a great nation, and one reason is the unity in diversity here. He himself belongs to the Adivasi community and wants the people of Rajasthan and the entire country to know about Adivasi culture. The goal of the Bharat Adivasi Party is to preserve their culture and fight for their rights, which is why they are here today.
Thavarchand, the MLA, mentioned issues with schools and colleges in his area, leading to students migrating. Despite the differences between the BJP and Congress in his area, the local people chose him. He emphasized that his attire is a part of his culture, maintaining the tradition of his ancestors.
In contrast, Bayana MLA Ritu Banawat, representing the Gurjar community, reached the assembly wearing traditional attire. Meanwhile, several BJP legislators arrived in saffron attire in various forms, with some wearing saffron scarves and others wearing saffron turbans. Civil Lines MLA Gopal Sharma from the BJP wore a saffron-coloured coat and stated that the saffron colour symbolizes the development of the country. He expressed that their priority is the development of Rajasthan.
