Newly obtained documents reveal that Amritpal Singh, a Khalistani leader, created ‘Warris Panj-Aab De,’ a new organisation, to capitalise on the popularity of ‘Waris Punjab De,’ an organisation previously established by Mandeep, the brother of Deep Sidhu. Amritpal demanded the papers for ‘Waris Punjab De’ upon his return from overseas in August 2022, but Mandeep refused to hand them over. Consequently, Amritpal created ‘Warris Panj-Aab De,’ which was linked to Deep Sidhu’s official Facebook page. However, documents obtained during a crackdown on Amritpal suggest that the establishment of ‘Warris Panj-Aab De’ was potentially backdated. The organisation’s registered address was owned by Amritpal’s close associate Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, who has been taken into custody and charged under the National Security Act.
