Kerala: Boat with 16 fishermen capsizes in Thiruvananthapuram, six injured

On Thursday morning in Thiruvananthapuram district, a fishing boat carrying sixteen fishermen sank near Muthalapozhi harbour, according to the police.
According to them, two fishermen were able to swim to shore while the rest were saved by marine law enforcement, coastal police, and other fishermen who were involved in rescue efforts. Six of the fisherman were reportedly hurt and sent to the hospital for treatment, according to the authorities. Around six this morning, the incident took place.

In the wake of this accident, fishermen from Muthalapozhi staged a protest, demanding that the unscientific construction of the harbour be rectified. This comes after a series of boat accidents in Muthalapozhi, including one last month where four fishermen lost their lives after their boat capsized, they said.
