Kejriwal creates green war room to fight Delhi pollution

The Arvind Kejriwal government has created a green war room to fight pollution in Delhi. This room will be operated by a team of 10 members. Pollution in Delhi will be monitored through this room. 

The Delhi government has launched an anti-dust drive till 15 October to tackle pollution in winter. In this campaign, 14 teams of Environment Department have been formed, which are inspecting in different areas of Delhi. Meanwhile, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee has banned construction work at six major sites in Delhi so that the pollution does not grow in Delhi.  “A 10-member team has been constituted to monitor initial pollutants, steps taken to control pollution and action taken on complaints will be received through mobile application ‘Delhi Green’,” said Minister of Delhi Government, Gopal Rai. The data related to burning of straw in neighbouring states will also be reviewed in the “war room”. Several agencies are working towards tackling the problem of air pollution in Delhi. Hence, to coordinate between them, the “Green War Room” has been made.  

The control room will work towards ensuring strict implementation of guidelines to eliminate dust pollution at construction and demolition sites, cement plants and waste burning. This antidust campaign will continue in mission mode till 15Octoberand strict action will be taken against those who violate it. A daily report of grievances and redressal of grievances will also be sent to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal,” Gopal Raia added. 

According to the Delhi government, “anti-smog guns” were not installed at these places. In order to prevent any further pollution growth in Delhi, the Delhi government is constantly taking action against those who are not following the rules. 93 RMC plants in Delhi were inspected by DPCC. 54 RMC plants were found to be operational. Thirty-one out of 54 RMC plants were found to be violating, the anti-dust rule. Delhi government is taking action against them. Serious neglect has been found on 11 plants, instructions have been issued to close these plants. Fines ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 20 lakh are being taken during the course of action. 

The following instructions have been issued by the government to control the pollution of dust spread on the construction site: 

1. It will be mandatory to install green net on the construction site; 

2. Three times the height to be covered with tin at the time of manufacture;

 3. Paving the way to the material at the construction site; 

4. Restriction on digging the ground against the rules; 

5. Spraying water is mandatory to suppress dust at construction site; 

6. Spray enough water before cutting the stone so that dust does not fly; 

7. Fines ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 5 lakh will have to be paid for not following the rules on construction sites and fine of more than Rs 5 lakh can be imposed if found to be serious violations. 

The following separate guidelines have been made for the demolition construction site: 

1. There will be a restriction on breaking construction material in open space, demolition will be done only in the marked area;

 2. There will be a ban on putting rubbish on the road. Malting is allowed in Jahangirpuri, Shastri Park, Rani Kheda Mundka, Bakarwala;

 3. It will be mandatory to completely cover vehicles carrying construction material;

 4. It will be mandatory to provide masks to the employees at places related to construction work and for workers at construction sites.
