SRINAGAR: People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration announced the seat-sharing arrangement for the first phase of DDC election. The election is to be held for the first time in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier spokesman of PAGD Sajad Gani Lone refuted the media reports that they have yet to send the list of candidates by a tweet. Reports said that the chairman of PAGD Farooq Abdullah approved the seat-sharing list. On Thursday evening according to reports, NC will contest 21 out of 27 seats in Kashmir valley. PDP will contest four seats and Sajad Lone’s PC will contest two seats in the first phase of these elections. PAGD has not revealed the names of the candidates in the first phase of these polls. After finalising the list the candidates have filed the nominations today.
It is in place to mention that PAGD has decided to put up joint candidates of its amalgam in these elections but the candidates will fight on the party symbols. DDC elections will be held in eight phases, from 28 November to 24 December as the notification was issued by State Election Commissioner K.K Sharma.
Meanwhile, in a press conference on Thursday afternoon JK Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari has welcomed the decision taken by PAGD to participate in DDC elections. Taking a dig at them he said that it took late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah 22 years to take the right path but PAGD realised in less than a month that emotional politics will take them nowhere.
Altaf Bukhari said that his party is all for the immediate restoration of statehood and has faith in the Supreme Court that Article 370 would be restored.
