K-pop artistes perform at music festival in New York’s Central Park

K-pop music festival was held in central New York, which is known as the ‘center of culture.’ “KOREA GAYOJE” was hosted at the neighbourhood music festival “Summer Stage” in Central Park in New York. K-pop artists and groups like Brave Girls, AleXa, and Golden Child were said to have performed there . Every year at Central Park, New York City hosts the summer music event. The Korean Cultural Center, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, as well as the New York City Parks Foundation, co-hosted it this year. More than 5,000 New Yorkers attended the K-pop event hosted by the Korea Institute for International Culture Exchange (KOFIEC) and participated in the singing.

The smash song “Rollin” by Brave Girls has also demonstrated the band’s enormous international success in New York. At the concert in New York, their international followers joined in the singing. On stage with her was AleXa, an American K-pop performer who with her song “Wonderland” won the NBC American Song Contest. “Golden Child”, a K-pop boy band that has recently attracted admirers from throughout the world, also had a successful stage at the festival.

The K-pop girl group had already performed in Manhattan Central Park in New York City before the K-pop festival. The opening performance of ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) 2022 Summer Concert Series included the well-known K-pop girl group “aespa” on the eighth (local time). The first K-pop girl group to be featured in this series is aespa.

aespa’s agency SM Entertainment said, “Local fans who visited the festival lined up early in the morning to see aespa, and also prepared placards with members’ name on, proving aespa’s global popularity.”

Korean indie bands will also perform at the festival in New York after the K-pop idol groups. At the “K-Indie Music Night,” which is being jointly organised by the Korean Cultural Center and the Lincoln Center, a sizable cultural and artistic venue in New York, the bands “Byebye Sea” and “JANNABI” from Group Sound will perform.
