The judicial remand of former secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Staff Service Commission was extended till 17th May in connection with the Junior Office Assistant (Information Technology) exam paper leak case. The decision was made by a court on Friday.
Kanwar, who is also a Himachal Administrative Services officer, was arrested on April 4th, along with others allegedly involved in the case. Additionally, the court has ordered that Neetu and her brother Gopal be sent to judicial custody until May 17th. The two were arrested by a special investigation team of the vigilance bureau on April 29th. Vigilance officials have stated that the siblings allegedly bought leaked question papers from Uma Azad, the main accused in the paper leak case.
The Himachal government has placed Azad under suspension. She was arrested in December 2022 with solved question papers and cash amounting to Rs 2.5 lakh, as well as a laptop computer.
