Dr. Ramesh Chand Sharma, the convenor of the Joint Teacher Association, informed journalists that enthusiasm is being seen among the teachers for the dharna at the Governor’s House on 7th Feb, and a large number of teachers are getting ready to gather there. He said that the teachers are united, and the teaching community is gathering regardless. He clarified that this protest is not of any particular cadre.
The Joint Teachers Association will strongly oppose violations of rights wherever they occur. He clarified that all the teachers are enthusiastic about this strike, and our only demand is that the new deputation policy should be canceled with immediate effect, and colleagues from Punjab and Haryana should not be tied to any time limit.
JTA’s legal advisor, Arvind Rana, Chairman Ranveer Johar, and General Secretary Ajay Sharma, said that this decision is being taken by the Chandigarh administration in an unconstitutional manner, which we will not tolerate under any circumstances. They said that the employees working in Samagra Shiksha should be given pending arrears of 2021-22.
Tomorrow we will also raise the demand for the seventh pay commission for newly appointed teachers and an increase in casual leaves for all teachers. They made it clear that if no steps are taken by the administration, the protest would continue for a long time.
