Amidst the fear of ‘JN.1,’ a subvariant of COVID-19 and the coronavirus spreading across the country, significant news has now emerged from Rajasthan. The new variant JN.1 of coronavirus has now made its presence felt in Rajasthan. The JN.1 subvariant of COVID-19 has been found in genome sequencing in four patients. Confirmation of the JN.1 subvariant has been made in one patient each in Jhunjhunu, Ajmer, Bharatpur, and Dausa districts. Meanwhile, a patient who tested positive for COVID in the Dausa district has died. In this regard, the administration is on high alert in Rajasthan after the detection of the new variant JN.1 of coronavirus.
Samples were taken from a total of seven positive patients for genome sequencing in the Microbiology Lab of SMS Medical College. Among them, confirmation of the JN.1 subvariant has been made in the samples of one patient each from Jhunjhunu, Ajmer, Bharatpur, and Dausa districts. Meanwhile, a patient who tested positive for COVID in the Dausa district has died. However, doctors say that the JN.1 subvariant is not a cause for serious concern. It is worth mentioning that while COVID cases are increasing in Rajasthan, until Tuesday, there was no case of the JN.1 subvariant of the Omicron variant of coronavirus in the state. However, after four cases of the Omicron variant JN.1 of coronavirus came to light on Wednesday and the death of one patient, there is a sense of urgency in the administration. Earlier on Tuesday, three new cases of COVID-infected individuals were reported in the state, including one patient each in Ajmer, Jaipur, and Sikar. Consequently, there are currently 28 active infections in the state.
