J&K’s Visually Impaired Women Cricketers Selected for National Camp

JAMMU, July 5: Three visually impaired women cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir have been selected to participate in a national coaching camp. The players, Aneka Thakur, Jamila, and Rafiqa, were flagged off for the camp on Friday by Ranjit Kalra, member of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, and Rohit Sharma, president of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.

The Cricket Association for the Blind Jammu Kashmir (CABJK) celebrated this moment as a significant achievement for the state, highlighting the opportunity for these women to showcase their talents on a national platform. The association expressed confidence that this would boost the morale of future athletes from the region.

Ranjit Kalra congratulated the cricketers on their selection for the 10-day national coaching camp in Delhi, emphasizing the honor and privilege of supporting the promotion of blind cricket in Jammu and Kashmir. Rohit Sharma echoed this sentiment, noting that this marks the first time visually impaired girls from J&K are participating in cricket at this level, calling it a proud moment for CABJK.
